What is
it?
Mindfulness means
maintaining a moment-to-moment awareness of your thoughts and feelings without
believing there is a right or wrong way to feel.
Why do
it?
Mindfulness helps lessen
stress, lessen anxiety and depression, fights obesity, improves relationships,
treats PTSD, and reduces pain.
Is this
for real?
Rooted in Buddhist
meditation, mindfulness is a non-religious practice that has been taught at the
University of Massachusetts Medical School since 1979 with documented health
benefits by hundreds of scientific studies.
How much
does it cost?
It’s free. The physicians at Internal Medicine
Associates of Tuscaloosa recognize the high cost and limitations of pills for
anxiety, depression, PTSD, relationship problems, and pain.
Until mindfulness becomes a
treatment covered by insurance, mindfulness classes will be an additional
benefit of being a patient of Internal Medicine Associates of Tuscaloosa.
